The Benefits of Buying Handmade Items

The Benefits of Buying Handmade Items

It has been a couple of weeks since we have posted here. We have been so busy since the weather has warmed up. We are trying to get everything ready for our garden, planting flowers, and taking care of our feather babies ( we also have new baby chicks )

I'm definitely not complaining, lol. We enjoy all these things, as well as our craft time. I've felt so guilty because I haven't had much time for it, except for a little time to finish some projects I had already started working on.

Even though we are a small family business, we take it seriously and we love what we do. We have gone through periods of discouragement. Some who are reading this can probably relate. I think the best advice I could give to anyone who is discouraged ( about anything ) is , Don't Give Up!!!!! And I try to apply this to myself as well, lol.

I often wondered....".Would someone really want something that we have made"? When I'm in Hobby Lobby buying supplies, I see all the beautiful things they have and think.... "maybe what we have is not so great in comparison". But I also think about the fact that you can walk into Hobby Lobby and buy something that a hundred other people ( or more ) have, that has probably come right off an assembly line. In my opinion, there's very little individuality. Again, they really have beautiful things, but in many ways not unique or "one of a kind".

Buying handmade offers so many benefits:

  •  First, ( in our case ) it supports small business.
  • Small business strives for customer satisfaction. I believe this is one of the most important things.

Here are a couple of examples from our customers.

    • Small businesses are in direct contact with their customers for any problems or concerns they may have.
    • Customers can also reach out for custom orders.
    • It's about quality, not quantity.
    • Handmade offers unique and " one of a kind " products.
    • Handmade offers much more "gift giving " ideas.
    • Handmade businesses encourage and want customer feedback.

These are just some of the reasons to buy handmade. The reasons I've mentioned are just some of the reasons we love what we do and do what we love.

Time and hard work are also part of a handmade business. There is so much thought, preparation and planning involved. We do sometimes make mistakes and totally fail with an idea. But we're only human, right? Lol. Handmade crafters highly value the quality of their work. Here at, it is all these things, plus it fulfils our desire to try and create beautiful things we believe people will love.
